Puppies gone wild.

Yesterday Tracie was snuggling to absorb all the heat from my body and around 8pm Brittany comes in and says"the dogs are gone"Dang it.So we hopped out of bed and ran outside to see if we could hear them yelp.Molly was aaaoooing and Maddy was yelping and sure enough they were deep in to woods to the North of us.
I grabbed the leash and the whistle and ventured into the woods.Already dark the only way i could figure out where they were was to blow the whistle and wait for their response. They were in quite a ways but they did respond to the whistle.About a 1/4 of a mile in i finally got Maddy to find me and she ran over to me and laid down for 2 seconds then she jumped up and started running towards Molly.Maddy ran around the snow drift but i ran straight across it and finally caught her.Tracie grabbed Maddy and walked her back to the house.
Molly on the other hand had other ideas. She ran away as fast as she could and didn't respond to the whistle till she knew she was far enough away from Brittany and me then she would yell"aahhooo"so Brit and i would walk to where she was yelling but she was quiet again till she knew she was far enough away again then  she would answer me.We played that game about 4 times till i said"the hell with her she can stay in the woods. As soon as i said that a deer jumped up in front of me about 10 feet away and with me having no flash light, that scared the living day light out of me.Brittany said"Dad,which way is home?"I said"hell if i know, let's go this way"We walked for about 10 minutes through the woods in the dark with no flash light until i could faintly see a light,it could be 21,it could be our place so we kept walking. To my surprise i got lucky and found the house.
We yelled and blew the whistle a few more times and she responded again but she was back deep in the woods.
I told Tracie and Brittany"let's be quiet a few minutes and see if she will come home"Maddy was yelling for her too and she must have known what we were doing cause she stopped barking too. With it quiet we could hear some scuffling and within 2 minutes she was back into the yard.Thank goodness she came back.
Took us a little over a half hour to get them back to the house. Then we couldn't fall asleep till after 9pm.Very tired and sore today.
