Cruiser problems

Yesterday on my way home my car kept spitting through the carburetor.I wasn't sure if a fuel pump would make it do that so i called Daena to see if it would be possible. Not sure why i thought of the fuel pump right away, probably cause Matt told me the fuel pumps usually go out on the chevy 305.

Daena gave me some possibilities like, spark plugs, distributor cap,or rotor,or possibly the fuel pump.I stopped on my way home and bought a cap, rotor, plugs and fuel filter.

I was surprised the car even ran.The cap and rotor were so corroded i am shocked they even made the slight contact to transfer the spark to the spark plugs.
The fuel filter looked like it hasn't been changed for a long long time and the plugs were so bad the plugs gap was around .60-thats 60 thousandths, supposed to be .35.

The cruiser runs 100% better now, thank goodness it wasn't the fuel pump,i have heard a few horror stories of changing them.I priced one at napa and the have one for $17 so i might buy one and throw it in the trunk just in case.

Nah, fuel pump is easy to change on a Chevy. 10 minutes. I wouldn't bother buying a spare one though. It's not that common to have one go bad.

Change/check the air filter while you're at it.

Dad mentioned of changing the air filter and i want to that when i get the money to change the oil and filter.
I've been putting in 10-30 and i got looking through the owners manual and it recommended 5-30 and that would be alot better oil for winter.

Air filter won't make it spit back through the carb, but it can foul the plugs and that will make it spit and sputter.
