Daena,Karen and I went for a fall bike ride October 11th.We started out at Elroy Wi. and rode to Kendall Wi.We ate out lunch the continued on to the 1st tunnel.Take a look at my pictures on my website.You will see a picture of Daena about ready to collapse.Actually that is the way i felt also.I guess the lack of riding for 2 months didn't help any.
Gotta say,the bike trails over by Elroy Wi. in the fall is the best time to ride.Not saying they are bad any other time,just that the colors were awesome.
Daena said we rode 22 miles.I rode 25 miles on the roads and i hurt alot more that i did when we rode the bike trails.
Unbelievable on how man people had the same idea as we did.They were flying by us fluffy guys like we were standing still.
We were like a steam train going up a side of a mountain.
After the bike bike ride my niece had a Birthday party and after the ham sandwich and cake i thought i heard my brother in law say"wanna see some boobs"BUT to my surprise when we got to the barn it was booze.I think we sampled almost every bottle of liquor and the barn and about a half hour i was pretty well lit.

Aw, it wasn't too bad. I actually felt pretty good afterwards. Certainly a lot better than after only two hours of doing the FAT BASTARD'S work for him!
Can't wait to go again! Maybe we can do a wintertime ride on a day where there's no snow? Unless of course it's like last winter. Hard to pedal with Carhardts and snow boots probably?
Sounds good to me.I thought i would be sore also but i felt pretty good also.
Do they close those trails for bikes during the winter?I do know they do shut the tunnel entrances so we couldn't go through them.
The trail's campgrounds, the Kendall depot, and the Elroy Commons are open until the end of October. The Sparta Depot will be open Mondays through Friday after October 31. Tunnels remain open until the first week in November.
So, I assume that as long as you can ride without getting run over by a snowmobile, the trails themselves are open. Sparta Depot all winter long, by the sound of it, the rest closed after October.
