Again the fair was ok but i went to watch the horse pulls.
They were pretty neat. They started out at 3000 pounds and pulled in both directions(each team pulled 25 feet until they ran out of room-around 100 feet)then they changed direction and pulled back the other way. When they reached 8000 pounds they decided to pull the sled one way.The horses would take that 8000 pounds like it was nothing, then when they got close to the 100 feets they had the John Deere tractor with the wide front end pull it back.Easier said than done. That tractor hooked onto the sled and the front tires came off the ground and couldn't pull the sled, they had the bobcat push while the John Deere pulled.Funny as hell.
They only used the wide front end tractor that time and got the narrow front end John Deere tractor out there to finish out the night.
I believe the small draft horses stopped at 8500 pounds. The large draft horses went up to 9000 pounds and at 10 pm and they were still pulling and our butts were getting sore so we left.
Take a look at my Pictures
If you ever get a chance to watch a horse pull. Please do so,they are amazing.
