October 6th 2007

Have you ever had one of those days,no matter what you did,you could not get a fire to burn?I had one of those days yesterday.I tried everything and after 2 hours i finally said the hell with it and came in the house.I guess if i was relying on a campfire to cook my food, last night i would of went to bed hungry.

I even took a fan out to the campfire and i would get it going good but as soon as i took the fan away it would stop flaming and in a few minutes it would just smolder.I know it wasn't wet wood cause i was burning wood slats from the pallet factory and they burn like gas most of the time.Except for last night

Unseasoned wood. Some of the slats from the pallet factory might be a little green/unseasoned. I know a guy that has a whole bunch of real fine seasoned oak kindling! That'd get her going. :-)

I had a bunch of dead limbs that fell off trees and i couldn't get that to burn not to say the newspaper wouldn't burn either.Never had such a problem making fire, the humidity was pretty high and that might of had a factor.

Yeah, might have been the humidity. Certainly doesn't help it any. Being so humid, it can't dry out from the last rain very good.
